The Eastern Sierra Transit Authority (ESTA) is accepting proposals for the purchase of one trolley, and the option for the purchase of five (5) trolleys within the next three (3) years, to be utilized in the Town of Mammoth Lakes.  The Town of Mammoth Lakes is a resort community located in the Eastern Sierra at an elevation of over 8,000 feet.   One hundred percent (100%) of the purchase price will be funded from Mono County State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) funds.Time is of the essence and all proposals must be received by 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 18th.  Eastern Sierra Transit will be operating on a reduced schedule on Friday, July 3rd in observance of Independence Day.The following routes will operate:·         395 Route North to Reno·         395 Route South to Lancaster·         Lone Pine to Bishop 6:15am·         Bishop to Lone Pine 1:15pm & 6:30pm·         Mammoth to Bishop 7:35am·         Bishop to Mammoth 6:10pm·         Bishop Dial-A-Ride  Limited Service (8:00am – 6:00pm) Priority will be given to Seniors and Disabled·         All Services in the Town of MammothRegular schedule on the 4th of July FIREWORKS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE BUS    


The Washington Fire near Markleeville, CA, may close portions of the Pacific Coast Trail (PCT).  ESTA provides service northbound around the fire which can be accessed at Bridgeport (9:20am) and Walker (10:00am).  This route operates on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  ESTA also operates a route from Bridgeport to Gardnerville on Wednesday afternoons (Bridgeport 1:30pm; Walker 2:20pm). The buses on these routes can also make a flag-stop for passengers waiting on the northbound side of Highway 395 at California Highway 108 (Sonora Pass Road) who are readily visible to the driver.

Late Night Trolley Service

The Mammoth Town Trolley will expand service into the wee hours of the morning (2:00am) beginning Friday, June 26th.   From 9:00am until 10:00pm, the Trolley will operate its normal schedule with a bus every 20 minutes.  From 10:00pm until 2:00am, the trolley will operate on a 30-minute frequency.  During these late night hours (10pm to 2am) service to stops on Canyon Boulevard above the Village and down Lakeview Boulevard will be by request only (ask the driver to take you to stops along these roads).  Contact ESTA at 760.924.3184 for more information


Effective June 17, 2015, Eastern Sierra Transit’s 395 Route bus stop in Inyokern has moved to CLASSIC BURGER, 6525 INYOKERN ROAD.  

Whitmore Service Begins June 22nd

Seasonal, weekday service to Whitmore Pool will begin Monday, June 22nd.  The route departs from the bus shelter behind McDonalds approximately every two hours or less from 7:35am until 5:20pm.  NOTE:  From June 22nd through July 3rd, the first morning run from McDonald's departs at 7:35am.  From July 6th forward, the first morning run will depart McDonald's at 7:50am.  Click here for the full schedule.


The Eastern Sierra Transit Authority (“ESTA”) is requesting proposals (RFP) from qualified certified public accounting firms to perform professional auditing services  for a three year period beginning  with the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015 for  the Eastern Sierra Transit Authority with the option of extending the contract for two (2) additional three-year periods.  Proposals are due June 23, 2015.  RPF-Financial Audit Services


Eastern Sierra Transit will be providing Mule Shuttle bus service over Memorial Day Weekend.  The hours of operation are:  Thursday  9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.;       Friday   9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.;  Saturday 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.; and Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.The Mule Shuttle will be operating on a 30 minute frequency. Bus Stop Locations: Entrance to Lot E, Josephs Market (back of parking lot), Grove St (next to Jack’s Restaurant), City Park (next to Chamber of Commerce), Kmart / Vons, Fairgrounds Main Entrance                      Rides are $1.00 and Day Passes are only $2.50 and can be purchased from the drivers.  Mule Days visitors staying at Highland RV Park, Brown’s Town                                            Campground, or those going to the Paiute Palace Casino call 760-873-7173 Ext 22 for a pick-up.  The discounted rate for the locations is $2.00 a ride of day pass          es              can be purchased for $5.00.                          Nite Rider Bus service will be operating THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY night from 6:00pm until 2:00am.  Fares are $4.20 per ride

Memorial Day Weekend Service in Mammoth

A full slate of transit service will be operated in the Mammoth area for the Memorial Day weekend.  On Saturday, May 23rd, both the Reds Meadow Shuttle and the Lakes Basin Trolley kick off service. the Lakes Basin Trolley will operate 7-days per week from May 23rd forward with 30-minute frequency on weekends and holidays and 60-minute service on weekdays.  The Reds Meadow Shuttle will operate the three days of the Memorial Day weekend (Sat/Sun/Mon), then be on hiatus until June 14th, when it will resume with 7-day per week service through the summer.
